I had the delightful honour of creating the label art for the 2020 Four Pillar’s Australian Christmas Gin.
Working on the project during lockdown in Berlin, Christmas in Australia felt a long way away. I wanted to create an artwork that celebrated being able to come together with loved ones and family after a difficult year.
I also created an animated version of the artwork that was used across social media.
From the Four Pillars campaign copy:
At Four Pillars, our Australian Christmas Gin is our most delicious festive tradition. We make Christmas puddings to Cam’s mum Wilma’s 1968 recipe, then distill the puddings, before ageing the gin in 100-year-old muscat barrels. The result smells like gin but tastes like Christmas.
Each year we then ask an Australian artist to create a festive label to do justice to this gin. This year’s rich and festive artwork (and accompanying joyful animation) is by the super talented Australian artist Lucy Dyson. Capturing the joy of the Aussie Christmas season through her collage-style artwork, Lucy has created a piece that celebrates coming together with loved ones to share a meal, a drink and a dance. Sunshine, fresh air, your favourite people, fun light-hearted times, and great food and drink.
Our 2020 Australian Christmas Gin will be available to buy at http://www.fourpillarsgin.com from 10.30am on Saturday 31 October, plus at our Distillery in Healesville, our Laboratory in Sydney’s Surry Hills, our pop-up Gin Shop at Myer Sydney CBD, and in great bottle shops across Australia (plus a few lucky spots around the globe).
